Terminal Championship and Winners 2021-2022

In partnership with Citadel and Citadel Securities, Correlation One hosted 9 competitions, distributing over $150,000 in prizes. 

 

 

This past year, Correlation One hosted 9 regional Terminal competitions across the world. The top 28 final teams gathered to compete in the 2022 Terminal Global Championship - the leading global coding competition for university students. These teams represented over 27 different universities and were selected to participate in the Championship based on their performance in the regional competitions.

 

After a week of intense competition, teams from University of Cambridge, University of Warsaw, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Harvey Mudd College advanced to the Final Four. Following the Finals, team ‘QY’ of University of Cambridge won the first place and secured the title of the 2022 Terminal Global Champions, taking home the $30,000 grand prize. 

 

In total, the winning teams won $50,000 of cash prizes. 

 

About the Terminal Global Championship Event 2022

 

The Terminal Global Championship, sponsored by Citadel and Citadel Securities in partnership with Correlation One, is the largest and most prestigious university-level game-based coding competitions in the world. The event serves to attract and celebrate the world’s best and brightest aspiring software engineers, as well as an opportunity to engage the world’s top AI talent and identify truly elite candidates. 

 

Over 4,500 students from more than a dozen countries applied for this year’s Terminal competitions, which consisted of regional events from North America to Asia-Pacific that culminated in the Global Championship event.

 

About the Terminal Global Championship 2022 Winners

 

The champions, Team ‘QY’, with Jiuyang Zhao and Jikai Guo representing University of Cambridge, were invited to the Global Championship based on their stellar performances at the Europe Regional Terminal. 

 

Team ‘The Economists’ won second place, receiving $10,000 in cash prize. Team members included Kamil Debowski and Juliusz Straszyński representing University of Warsaw, and were invited to the Championship as the 4th place winning team of the Europe Regional Terminal. 

 

Coming in third was Team ‘The Eleemosynary Engineers’, composed of three students who won first place in the East Coast Regional Terminal. Members included Alex Kim, Mudit Gupta, and Pranay Agrawal of Georgia Institute Of Technology.

 

In fourth place was Team ‘MONKUMRET’ with Alan Wu, Sahil Rane and Milo Knell of Harvey Mudd College, who were invited from having participated in the West Coast Regional Terminal. The 3rd and 4th place winning teams took home $5,000 in cash prizes each. 

 

About the 2021-2022 Season’s Terminal Winners

A huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘Try:except:’, who took 2nd place, with Christian Howard from UIUC, Drew Williams from Cornell and Kyle Gessel from Ohio State University, Team ‘NEO’ coming in third, with Harsh Choudhary from University of Texas at Austin, Mohsen Aznaveh from Texas A&M and Zikai Cai from USC, and Team ‘Tothemoon’ who came in 4th place, with Benson Guo and Victor Guo from University of Waterloo. 

 

Congratulations to the East Coast Regional Fall 2021 Champions, Team ‘Try:except:’, with Drew Williams, Sophia Gunluk and Brian Bobby representing Cornell! Huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘Fog of war’ coming in 2nd place, with Xinyu Cao from University of Chicago and Haichuan Yang from UPenn, Team ‘Tan90’ who took 3rd place with Richard Lin, Zhiyang Li and May Chen from NYU, and Team ‘Bash’ who came in 4th place, with Irene Xu, Thomas Sottosanti and Deyuan Li from Yale. 

 

Congratulations to the Central Regional Fall 2021 Champions, Team ‘Ratmen’, with Richard Zhan, Jackson Zou and David Luo representing Carnegie Mellon University! A huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘Dynamic Duo’ who took 2nd place, with Amit Min from UNC and Zaid Barkat from UIUC, Team ‘Foundation’ who came in 3rd place, with Acshi Haggenmiller and Jade Burt from University of Michigan, and Team ‘Network Flow’ coming in 4th place, with Tianhao Yao and Yizhe Liu from University of Waterloo.

 

Congratulations to the APAC Regional Fall 2021 Champions, Team ‘Silence Fortune Hunter’, with Feifan Shi from Shanghai Jia Tong University and Xiaoxuan Chen from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. A huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘PEEGEEPEEHAUS’ who took 2nd place, with Po Yan Chuan from National University of Singapore, Team ‘Boating’ coming in 3rd place, with Zhipeng Xu and Ao Li from Shanghai Jia Tong University, and Team ‘Imposters’ who came in 4th place, with Jonathan Chee and Jun Wei Chong from National University of Singapore.

 

Congratulations to the West Coast Regional Fall 2021 Champions, Team ‘Evo’, with Elden Ren, Tobias Worledge and Jonathan Yue representing UC Berkeley! A huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘Dubs’ who took 2nd place, with Andrew Briand from University of Washington, and Team ‘Mighty Pandas’ coming in 3rd place, with Jake Will and Anna Tifrea from Caltech, and Team ‘ALEC’ who came in 4th place, with Alec Thompson and Sid Bansal from UC Berkeley.

A huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘Newbee’ who took 2nd place, with Miao Zhu and Qianchen Sun from University of Cambridge, Team ‘Liquid’ coming in 3rd, with Jiuyang Zhao, Jikai Guo and Qianyue Zhang from University of Cambridge, and Team ‘3-04’ who came in 4th place, with Peter Koepernik, David Geldbach and Rafael Hunt-Stokes from University of Oxford.

Congratulations to the Europe Regional Spring 2022 Champions, Team ‘Sarma’, with Ivan Zufic, Marko Mijolović and Marko Lazaric from University of Zagreb. A huge shout out to our other winners: Team ‘Snake’ who took second place, with Mathieu Rochat and Romeo Tatti from EPFL Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Team ‘Rabbids’ coming in 3rd, with Federico Poli and Donata Poli from ETH Zurich, and Team ‘The Economists’ who came in 4th place, with Juliusz Straszyński from the University of Warsaw.
