Vote NOW for TWO Important Data, Workforce Panels at SXSW 2023

Written by Correlation One | August 10, 2022

Through Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, you can vote for TWO exciting proposed panels on data science and workforce development — each one featuring Correlation One leaders.

Held every March in beautiful Austin, Texas, South by Southwest® (a.k.a. “SXSW” or “South By”) is a cluster of conferences and festivals that celebrates “the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture” while helping “creative people achieve their goals.”

Today, we're delighted to announce that our Co-Founders and Co-CEOs Rasheed Sabar and Sham Mustafa are featured in proposals on the 2023 SXSW PanelPicker™. (That's the event's competitive session proposal platform.)

Given Correlation One’s mission to help individuals and companies prepare for the rapidly expanding data economy, we’re hopeful that both proposed panels will be selected for presentation next spring.

For that to happen, however, we need your vote!

How You Can Help

Through August 21, 2022, you can vote for both of the following panels to be featured at SXSW.

Luckily, it takes just a few seconds to register and vote. You can also opt to leave a comment about why you think each one merits attention during SXSW.

To help streamline the voting process, we’ve provided panel overviews (below) as well as links through which you can vote.

Panel #1: People Stack > Tech Stack (Here’s Why)

Event: SXSW | Track: Workplace Revolution

Description: Two mega-trends are shaping the future of work: Workers are increasingly selective in their job searches, seeking more career-building paths. Businesses are accelerating digital transformation to account for staff shortages while investing in technology that promises to create more nimble, resilient data-driven operations.

But workers who lack digital skills and data literacy are finding themselves rejected from high-paying jobs. Yes, for all the digital revolution's promise, the transformation will only succeed if talent has the right skills.

One solution? Employers pivot from focusing on building “tech stacks” to developing “people stacks.” So, let's explore strategies — including job-readiness training — that can yield a more inclusive, equitable economy over the next decade.

Takeaways

  1. Data literacy is a core skill for our Digital Age, one that is fundamental in practically every occupation and organizational level.
  2. Job candidates flock to programs and employers who provide job-readiness benefits.
  3. By investing in human capital currently deemed “non-traditional talent,” we can build a more inclusive and future-proof workforce.

Panel #2: Why Are Dollars Going to Data Literacy?

Event: SXSW EDU | Track: Startups & Investment

Description: New investments addressing a massive skill gap have the power to strengthen a globally competitive workforce, prepare a generation of problem-solvers, and meet the data revolution head-on. Key players from philanthropy and industry are funding efforts to increase data literacy for every K-12 student.

Join this panel to learn about how investments in innovative learning environments, talent development, and coalitions for change are building capacity and equitable pipelines for our modern world.

Takeaways

  1. Hear how and why funders are prioritizing data literacy in their investment portfolios.
  2. Explore specific investments and opportunities expanding data literacy and innovating on K-12 education to better meet unique student needs.
  3. Understand what data literacy looks like for diverse student populations, content areas, grade levels, and settings.
